PREMARITAL/NEWLYWED BOOT CAMP: SCHEDULE
Day 1
- Marriage 101 – Introduction to Marriage: An earnest look at the glamorous and not so glamorous aspects of marriage. Program leaders provide an outline of the common problems and pitfalls that couples may face. Participants share their hopes and concerns about marriage and their goals for the program.
- Statistics 201 – What Research Shows About Successful Marriages: A look at how successful couples handle conflicts and discuss their needs and expectations (i.e. Do we want children? How much should we be saving? Who’s parents do we visit for the holidays?) Also, an examination of relationship warning signs to be on the lookout for.
- Communication 301 – Communication and Conflict-Resolution Tools: Couples are taught communication techniques and participate in exercises that will help them facilitate dialogue with their spouse even in the most uncomfortable situation. Also, a look at what it takes to achieve and maintain a satisfying sexual relationship.
Day 2
- Economics 401 – Financial Planning for a Family: From savings and stocks to 401Ks and estate plans, participants will get a complete overview of the financial questions and scenarios they will need to discuss and examine in their marriage.
- Marriage Practicum – Creating a Shared Vision of the Future: Combining all of the techniques learned from the previous sessions, program leaders guide couples in developing long-term strategies for their future together. Participants with leave equipped with the knowledge and skill to face any obstacle in their marriage.
